Thomas and Mary Peabody, founders of the Peabody Retirement Community,
North Manchester, Indiana, pose in their new 1902 Curved Dash Oldsmobile.
This was the first horseless carriage to arrive in north-central Indiana. The car
was donated to the Smithsonian in the 1940's, where it still sits on display.
In the background the sidewheel steamboat "Ethel H" waits at the
Yellow Banks Hotel Landing.
